Tesla Powerwall 3 launched in the UK in 2024 with major upgrades over Powerwall 2 — integrated inverter, 11.5 kW continuous output (up from 5 kW), LFP chemistry. If you're buying new, Powerwall 3 is the call. If you have Powerwall 2, here's whether to upgrade.
For new buyers: Powerwall 3 every time. For Powerwall 2 owners: don't upgrade just for the spec — your existing battery still works fine and is supported with firmware until at least 2030. Wait for Powerwall 4 (rumoured 2027) or until your Powerwall 2 capacity drops below 70% (warranty trigger).
